Itinerary
Cusco – Tinqui – Upis
- Morning: Depart from Cusco early and travel to the village of Tinqui (3,800 meters), the starting point of the trek. Begin your hike to the Upis campsite (4,400 meters).
- Afternoon: Trek through rolling valleys with views of Ausangate Mountain. Enjoy the option to relax in natural hot springs near the campsite.
- Evening: Dinner and overnight at Upis campsite.
Upis – Arapa Pass – Pucacocha
- Morning: Begin the day with an ascent to the Arapa Pass (4,850 meters), where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of snow-capped peaks.
- Afternoon: Descend to the turquoise Pucacocha Lagoon, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. Overnight camp near the lagoon.
Pucacocha – Palomani Pass – Huchuy Phinaya
- Morning: Ascend to the Palomani Pass (5,200 meters), the highest point of the trek. From here, you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
- Afternoon: Descend to the small settlement of Huchuy Phinaya (4,700 meters), where you’ll set up camp.
Huchuy Phinaya – Rainbow Mountain – Anantapata
- Morning: Trek toward the famous Rainbow Mountain, arriving before the crowds. Marvel at the vibrant colors and take in the spectacular views.
- Afternoon: Continue to the Red Valley for an optional scenic detour before descending to the Anantapata campsite.
Anantapata – Qampa Pass – Pacchanta – Cusco
- Morning: Hike over the Qampa Pass (5,000 meters), enjoying views of glacial lagoons and the Ausangate massif.
- Afternoon: Descend to the village of Pacchanta, where you can relax in natural hot springs. After lunch, take private transportation back to Cusco, arriving in the evening.
