Itinerary

  • Morning: Pick-up from your hotel in Cusco and drive to Mollepata for breakfast. Continue to the trailhead at Soraypampa.
  • Afternoon: Hike to Humantay Lake, a stunning turquoise glacial lake at 4,200 meters, and return to camp.
  • Evening: Camp at Soraypampa (3,900 meters), with breathtaking views of the Salkantay Mountain.
  • Morning: Begin the most challenging day with an ascent to the Salkantay Pass (4,650 meters), the trek’s highest point. Enjoy panoramic views of snow-capped peaks.
  • Afternoon: Descend into lush cloud forests filled with orchids and waterfalls. Camp at Chaullay (2,900 meters).
  • Morning: Trek through coffee plantations and banana groves to La Playa.
  • Afternoon: Optional visit to Cocalmayo hot springs to relax after a day of hiking. Overnight at a campsite in Santa Teresa.
  • Morning: Hike along the train tracks to Aguas Calientes, following the Urubamba River.
  • Afternoon: Check into your hotel in Aguas Calientes and enjoy free time in the evening.
  • Morning: Take an early bus to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the ancient citadel.
  • Afternoon: Return to Aguas Calientes for lunch, then take the train back to Cusco.
